Two more options -
1. If you are a true hard core Crusader you will do like Bend locals and awake long before the first beam of Sunlight (I know you will not see the sun in Portland for 6 mths), say about 4:30 if you race at 9:30 and drive over day of race. After you race, cheer for a few hours and drive home arriving about 7:00 pm if you watch or ride the A's. Not for the weak Crusader.
2. This one is for you softies, Mcmenamins is opening their first location East of the Cascades, in downtown Bend, this week. Grand Opening celebration this weekend. The facility is an old Catholic school converted in fine Mcmenimans fashion, complete with a a Turkish style soaking pool, theater, bakery, pubs, lodging, etc. There are $30 per person hostel accommodations, rooms, even full houses for large groups.
