On the other hand the women 1/2/3 and the women 4 all do 4 laps.
Why aren't the 4s doing fewer laps? I may be alone here, but I gotta say
that as a 4 who has done nothing other than time trials and PIR, the idea of
racing 4 laps around the relentlessly hilly Hagg Lake is too daunting.
Being a Washington racer who only comes to Oregon for the stage races, there is
no reason anyone should listen to me... However...I gotta agree with Susan on
this. Either the 1/2/3 women should do more laps or the cat-4s should do less.
It's not that the cat-4s are incapable of racing 44 miles, but for an early
season race, it does seem a bit more than necessary, especially with the
disparity in abilities you see in the cat-4's. IOW, in a hilly race, a lot of
them will be riding a good deal of the course alone. But I've never done
Banana Belt so...
As an upper-category racer, it has always annoyed me that we are doing the same
distance as the cat-4s. The cat-4s will obviously be having a more difficult
race, when it's the cat-1/2/3s who are more prepared for it.
Okay, carry on.
