Sort of on the topic of clubs-

I was visiting the Pittock mansion with my daughter's class today;

there I learnt that Henry Pittock was an avid cyclist who rode right up

to the time of his death at 84. He was a member of something called the

"Oregon Road Club" which was dedicated to the "secure use of Oregon's

roads (for cyclists)".

Does anyone know anything about the history and heritage of this

venerable cycling club? I guess it doesn't exist anymore because a

google search for it turned up nothing. I am guessing it would have

been in full swing around the turn of the century (the last one that

is). Thanks
