February 10, 2005

?

Seattle, WA - Rad Racing Northwest announces the 2005 Cascade Bicycle

Club Education Foundation ? Northwest Juniors Racing Series presented

by Rad Racing Northwest. The all-criterium race series is comprised of

8 races in the Seattle area.

?

Continuing on the success of previous years, the 2005 series will run

on all of the same courses. Series Director Dave Schilling says, ?We

pick courses that will challenge the older riders but also allow the

youngest riders to race competitively. All of the courses are the best

in the area with plenty of nice corners and even some hills.?

?

Juniors race start times remain at ?prime time,? scheduled to run just

before the top senior categories later in the race day. This allows

juniors coming from further distances to compete in the races.

?

The series will continue with the successful age and gender-based

junior categories. ?It is very important to offer categories that

match the strength progression of kids.? says Schilling, ?This gives

them the opportunity to race competitively from 9 years old on up.?

The Series categories are: A (17-18), B (15-16), C (13-14) and D

(10-12).

?

All races provide a motor vehicle traffic free environment and are

part of established races such as, the Seward Park criterium series,

the Ballard Twilight criterium and the Boat Street criterium.

?

A series-long points system will run for male and female racers

separately in each age group. Final series category winners will be

awarded ?2005 Series Winner? yellow jerseys. YMCA of Seattle is

providing two scholarships to this summers Freedom Sports Camp at Camp

Orkila to be raffled for the C and D categories at the series opening

race on April 10th.
