Hello OBRA-land,
I'd like to personally invite all of you to check out the Super Trainer bicycle treadmill at Mavericks Sports Club in downtown Portland. Mavericks is the first facility in the world to make the treadmill available to the general public and they're having an open house on Saturday, March 26th at 9:00AM
In case you haven't heard about it (its been in VeloNews, Cyclingnews.com, KGW-TV, the Oregonian, etc...) this thing is truly a revolutionary piece of equipment. It was developed locally in North Plains by OBRA racer and uber-machinist Larry Papadopoulos.
You use your own bike, you're not restrained in any way and it reacts automatically to your input...meaning when you speed up, it speeds up, when you slow down, it slows down...instantly. It can be programmed to any course imaginable...from Alpe d Huez to Skyline Blvd...and it can operate at an incline of up to 16%. It's been ridden by top pros like Christian Vande Velde, Dede Barry, Jonathan Vaughters, Scott Moninger, cross champ Katie Compton, and even Johan Bruyneel gave it a try at the recent Discovery Team training camp. OBRA regular and Bike Gallery/Trek team member Troy Tucker has also been highly involved with its development.
Mavericks is having a special open house event on Saturday March 26th and you're all invited...because you really can't understand what this treadmill is all about unless you see it and ride it yourself.
