Team Rose City (Team RCW/River City Bicycles, promoter of the Mt Tabor
Criterium) is celebrating its 50th year (1951 - 2001) as the oldest
continuously operational racing team west of the Mississippi. We are
currently a masters racing team comprised of trackies, roadies, triathletes,
and mtn bikers. Our abilities range from beginners, to state, national, and
world champions. We look for masters level men and women 30+ who want to
learn to race and be supportive team mates during training and races
(whimpering is not allowed).
We currently conduct our training rides on Saturdays at 10 am starting at
the Cornelius Pass Park & Ride located just off the Cornelius Pass Rd Exit
from Highway 26 (Sunset Hwy) in Hillsboro. About 1/4 of us are still riding
fixed gear thru Feb, so having newcomers on our rides is no problem. Most
of the fixed gear riders go 2-3 hrs. The roadies go longer.

Ontiveros), who is unmatched as an avid supporter of bike racing in Oregon.

On top of all the great suggestions already posted, you should consider
joining a club/team if you haven't already done so. Besides the training

This is my first (road) racing season, and I'm looking for advice
and
suggestions as to which races to start with and which ones to
avoid. I
have the schedule, but don't know the reputation of the races.
