I strongly agree that the Senior Women's races should be as long as the Cat 3 Men's races. As Kerry mentioned, many of us have stage races and other endurance events on our calendars and these short distances are inadequate.

Ditto !...it seems that this is the trend this year for senior women, and
it's my understanding that this is due to combining the senior women & cat 4
women fields. As one promoter put it " the squeaky wheel gets the oil ". POC
& King's Valley have both lost distance as well.
I see so much complaining about this and that on OBRA, I didn't want to
bring the issue up...and us much as I believe this is a detriment to women's
racing in general, I'm just happy to have so much quality racing available
so close to home...I'll just train less : )

Thanks for the posting & announcement for the rehearsal road race. Those
in Central Oregon appreciate having a race a bit closer to our homes.
I just noticed that the Senior Women's Race is 30+ miles. Why sooo short??
I would think it should be at least the same distance as the Cat 3 men's
field. This distance seems appropriate for Cat 4 women just beginning to
race. But for those of us that have raced for a few years, this is not an
adequate distance. Especially if we plan to be competitive in stage races
such as Mt Hood, Cascade, or one day races anywhere else in the country.
Past years races have not been this length. Why this year?? If there are
other women racers out there who have an opinion on this topic, please
comment.

The 2005 Rehearsal Road Race Championships will be held in North Central
Oregon near the town of Madras, OR.
This years route is an 18.8 mile loop over a series of small rollers,
good to excellent pavement, with one large climb as you approach the
Finish line. The date of the Rehearsal Race weekend will take place on
Sunday, May 15th.
Parking will be near the staging/Start area. Follow the maps on the
flyers for easy directions. For those racers who choose to spend the
weekend in Madras, the Best Western Ramas Inn is offering a special
discount to all OBRA members. Be
sure to mention that you are an OBRA member when you making your hotel
reservation. See the race flyer for further
information.
