Mike is absolutely correct.

There are NO self upgrades to Cat 4. You must request one by sending
an e-mail to upgrades@obra.org.

I do pick up on these things, and racers who race out of category face
potential sanctions.

The pertinent rule is:
6.6.1 Eligibility. No rider may race in a category other than that
which is stated on his or her membership.

Racing in a category other than what is approved could be considered
fraud and may subject a rider to punishment up to and including
suspension per 13.1.

Don Leet

As a team mate and sponsor of two of the upgrades (Veronica and Scott) I think it is best that they upgrade. Though they are not "sandbaggers" as it is their first year in cross they are ready to upgrade. Prizes for B"s are a lottery and if they want to get better now is the time. They need to learn now what they need to work on for the next year. I have no idea if they share my opinion.
