Here are the updated results from the first Eugene Time Trial series
event on April 5th.
With near perfect condition last week and the opposite forecasted for
this week will the times be the better or worse. Last week saw Billy
Truelove of Hutches bicycle smoke the competition with a 33:10 time over
Team Hayden Frontier's Zac Winter. But don't discount Zac's chances as
he is determined to improve his time and topple Billy from the number 1
spot.
In the Cat 3 field Richard Sweet of Paul's Bicycle Way of Life Cycling
team and Galen Mitterman of Team Hayden Frontier were only 5 seconds
apart, who will suffer that little bit extra this week to take the top
spot of the cat 3 field between them, or will someone else make it out
to make their mark on the field.
Wes Stephens of Paul's Bicycle Way of Life Cycling Team put the hurt on
the large 30 person Cat 4/5 field last week, besting Eric Ahlvin of EWEB
Windpower by 28 seconds and a minute on his own teammate Boyd Piebenga.
One thing is for sure, EWEB Windpower and Paul's Bicycle Way of Life
dominate the top 5 spot's, time will tell if the boys in Orange can hold
off the Green and White Checkers.
The Juniors were dominated by EWEB Windpower, with all 3 being on the
team, they road well to post some very respectable times overall.
After the sort out of the Master's age categories with a new field being
added for the 3 over 60 gentlemen that came out to race the field sits
ready to battle it out again this week. Vic Steuber of Hutch's Bicycle
is the only non-EWEB Windpower racer in the top 4, can he take two
minutes off his time to catch up and pass Kent Peterson who has come
back in 2005 to make his mark on the TT scene once again. Then there is
the 60+ field with David Russell of Huntair besting Roger Johnson of
River City Wheelmen by just 41 seconds. I don't know much about David
but can tell you Roger is looking for some better times and to take back
the number 1 spot he held last year. I wouldn't discount Alec Bentley
either, remember consinstansty is the key to winning the series, show up
all 4 times and earn the points and you can still win the overall
series.
The women's field saw 1 cat ? and 1 cat 3 in each field with Kori Kunz
of EWEB Windpower and Jaini Crawford from Paul's Bicycle Way of Life
Cycling Team. The women's cat 4 field was by far the largest women's
field we have had at the ETT series with 7 total women. The first week
was taken by Paul's Bicycle Way of Life Cycling Team's Candy Walker with
Elizabeth Vollmer-Buhl of Hutches Bicycle at 65 seconds but with Kerri
Ricketts only 3 seconds behind. Ruthy Kanagy was alone in the 50+ field
but by the looks of it improved her time by close to 10 minutes over
last year. After the TT last week I acquired a $50 cash prize to be
given to the fastest women out there regardless of category, which
currently is held by Jaini Crawford of Paul's Bicycle Way of Life
Cycling team at 41:12.
