Good Morning Fellow Racers,
I wanted to give everyone a quick update on the 2005 Mt. Hood Cycling Classic. There is exactly one month left till race day. Be sure and keep checking our home page for frequent updates as the event draws nearer. Here are a few to keep in mind.
a.. The CAT 3 men's field is at 80% capacity. This is your first and final warning. If you want to race this category at the Mt. Hood Cycling Classic put in your registrations now as this will fill up. Once we hit 100 riders we will continue to take names for a waiting list. Those on the waiting list first will get the option should someone cancel they will get the spot.
b.. CAT 3-4 women we need to hear from you! To date we have only two CAT 3-4 women signed up for this year's event. We need to receive commitments from at least 20 riders by May 15th or we will cancel this category due to lack of participants. We have worked hard to create courses that cater to more novice women riders and are hoping that it will prove beneficial. Please sign up or email me if you are coming.
c.. Stage 5 is Snow Free! A crew went up this weekend and cleaned up the stage 5 course. Due to low snow levels we are a month ahead of schedule for gaining access to the Forest Service roads. The course is looking good and can easily be ridden. Please still be aware of hazards as it is still early in the year. Packets with course maps and descriptions can be found at Discover Bicycles in downtown Hood River or at Cooper Spur Mountain Resort. Feel free to park your vehicles at Cooper Spur Mountain Resort if you are going to ride the course. Plus when you are done they have a great menu to choose from in their restaurant.
d.. Race bible is near completion and will be posted in the next 10 days. Be sure and check back in and download your copy. Please be aware that you will receive a new race bible at packet pickup that will be official and final version.
e.. MHCC apparel and gear is in stock and ready to ship. Be sure and check out the full line at http://www.mthoodcyclingclassic.com/merchandise.htm
f.. Lodging is going super fast. Cooper Spur Resort was full back in February and Best Western Hood River Inn only has 8 rooms left. Book now if you need accomdations still. For more information log on to http://www.mthoodcyclingclassic.com/lodging.htm
I hope we see all of you in June!
Sincerely,
Chad Sperry
