Matthew,
I had Frank's Power Cranks about a year and a half ago. I also had a Power
Tap on one of my bikes. Unfortunately I only used the PCs for a frustrating
8 weeks (more later). They're tricky to get used to, but I'm pretty sure I
had some power gains, especially seated climbing. Some guys complain that
they mess up cadence (your cadence will be way less, especially in the
beginnning). I'm not sure about that.
The problem I had was reliability. The cranks I had were for the Campy
bottom bracket (tapered shaft). The cast metal in the cranks was brittle
and cracked with moderate application torque. Eventually the crank spindle
and clutch disintegrated, leaving me stranded miles from nowhere twice.
Frank was great about replacing parts, but it happened again. I finally
just gave up and returned the cranks for refund.
The problem may have been fixed and you may not have the problem with a
Shimano bottom bracket. I'd probably get them again if I thought they'd
last.

Does anyone out there in obra land have experience with these?
Comments, opinions, warnings...? Thanks in advance for any replies.
