mtb BAR age groups

The notification was sent out about the change many months ago. The

decision for the new fields was made at the promoter meeting last fall.

The info is posted on the website at:

I also made up sample entry/release forms for the promoters to use in an

attempt to eliminate any mistakes in transferring the categories and

classes to their own fliers. This is posted at:

http://www.obra.org/mtb/mtb_current/Entry_Release_2005_XC_rev_b.doc

Unfortunately, most promoters do not check their e-mail. We ran into

this problem at Big K, but I simply re-sorted the entries into the

correct age groups as I entered them into the start list, thus

correcting the misalignment and overlap problem.

However, the Thaw did NOT do this.

All in all, I'd say we're about 50/50 for folks catching this at their

events.

The change was made to help customize the fields to cater to lower

numbers in some areas (juniors, younger seniors and masters). We still

seem to have lots of folks racing in the middle age groups (upper

"senior" and "vet" fields).

Regards,

Jim Fischer

I am going to have to lump all masters together. One race does 30-39,

one does 35-44, etc. Next time all masters will be listed as one group

- beginner, sport, exp each.

What is up with the change in the age group divisions?

Now they do not match the race age groups plus there is an overlap with

the 35-44 and

40+ groups.
