Campy to Shimano

Yeah I've been running campy ergo levers with a shimano setup for 5 or

six years now.. Actually came up with the idea and built one myself

before the guy at jtek (yes, he knows, and I don't care). I flipped a

travel agent (which is for brakes) and put it on my derailler like a

avid rollamijig. I had to make a new wheel of course with the two

diameters being a ratio of how much the shifter "pulls" versus how much

"pull" the derailluer/cog spacing needs.   Basically with every click of

a shifter you "pull" so much cable. And to go over one cog, you need to

"pull" with so much cable. So by having the cable come in on one

diameter and leave on another you could actually get any index shifter

to work with any derailluer with any cog spacing. And yes it will work

perfectly if the diameters are correct. Could also probably use a

little lever on a pivot thingy too attaching the in-cable at different

leverage than the out-cable... but it might be more cumbersome and not

as compact ?

the shiftmate works like a travel agent. totally worth the money, given

the cost of campy cassettes and whatnot, if you run a campy group. but

they work for every possible combination. they actually get the cable

pull correct, so that it shifts exactly like its supposed to.

Anyone out there have success with the following:

Easily converting Campy 10sp to Shimano 10sp (w/o

changing the freehub body)? I actually have a set of

Ksyrium SL's with a Campy 10sp hub and would like to

use on a bike equiped with Shimano DA 10sp.

Thanks.
