Twin Rivers Classic
For seven years the Twin Rivers Cycling Club produced a race =
that many riders in the NW classified as one of the most "fun" events =
they attended. The NAIA World Series now occupies the Memorial Day =
weekend slot, and Lewiston/Clarkston simply can't accommodate another =
major event on this weekend. Our club had a meeting this evening and we =
are considering bringing back the event as a Labor Day weekend race in =
2002. As in the past, we would have a $10,000 minimum cash prize and =
$5,000 in primes; and would hope to be even larger. We would use the =
same prologue, time trial, and criterium courses as in the past. The =
final road race would be polyglot of past races with the pro/1/2 riders =
probably doing a variation of the 1998 course of 107 miles including =
climbs: Winchester, Webb Ridge, and the Old Spiral Highway.
The bottom line: Will NW racers turn out for a well-crafted =
major event this late in the season?
Let me know.
