RE: race prizes

Dear Promoters (Road & MTB)

I think you hear from a few whiners about prizes. The vast majority of

people I know don't care too much about prizes. Now for the Cat 1/2

folks that might be less true - some of them are riding semi-fulltime

and money matters to them more.

For the rest of us weekend wheelers I can say I am doing the races to

challenge myself/for fun (sometimes :)/etc and I am not in it for the

prizes. I work a regular job to pay the rent - I'm not a pro! And if

prizes cash, or otherwise, ever cause a promoter to increase entry fees

I'd just as soon see cheaper entries and no prizes (and no, I'm not

complaining about entry fees).

Triathlons that I have done (I'm not officially a triathlete and do

ride track & Italian bikes so don't bump me down the cycling social

order so quickly!!) only give cash to the Elite competitors. Age group

top 3's get ribbons and/or product prizes.

I'm neutral on raffles since I usually don't have time to hang around

and wait for the drawing. I'd prefer the random place prizes myself :)
