An idea could be to make each OBRA racer buy their own chip for the
season along with the race numbers. That way, the only cost to the
promoter or OBRA would be for the system. Of course, that still could
be costly.

I priced a chip timing company this year and here's
what I got:
$3.75 per rider with a $1500 minimum.
Pickett's was probably the largest attended race this
year with 272 people, that equals $1020 for race
attendance and I would still need to cover $480. How
many races could cover this?
