I guess I was not clear enough in my initial post. The issue is all about
how things are returned. If items are returned it is the responsibility of
the race organizer, not OBRA. OBRA does not have enough room to store items
left from every race or the personnel to deal with them. There are roughly
350 days of racing on the schedule for 2005. If only one item is left from
every day that would be a lot but the number is bigger than one. For a
single race organizer to deal with a couple of left over wheels and some
lost clothing is one thing. For Mike O'Hair to have to deal with all of it
is something completely different. In Don's case it should have been the
race organizer's who gathered his wheels, if found, and deal with him to get
them returned. Sending them back to Portland (especially since Don lives in
Bend) was a mistake.

If I was in Mikes or Candi's position I would probably agree with Mike. But
as always there are exceptions to "just leaving stuff" I looked in vain for
my wheels for almost 2 hours after my event. I then reported my lost wheels
to two officials. I would hate to lose my wheels to OBRA because of
something out of my control. I might not even want to put wheels in the
neutral support. This is kind of a mute point for me because my next road,
if I keep my curent schedule will be in 2015.
