Carl Decker and Broadmark Capital Capture the Elite National
Championship.

Park City, UT - Fresh off the NORBA event held at Park City the
preceeding weekend, Carl Decker, riding for the Broadmark Capital Elite
Cycling Team, won the 120 mile USCF Elite road race championship. Carl
broke free of a select group of approximately 30 riders on the
finishing hill to win solo by several bike lengths over a Bianchi-Grand
Performance rider. Decker's broadmark teammate, Andrew Fischer, also
broke free of the group near the top of the climb and finished a strong
third, just a bike length short of second place. The race was dictated
by an early breakaway that stayed free for 90 miles, which included Ian
Tubbs and Justin Morgan. This break was brought back by the
Fiordifrutta/wheelworks team. Decker's luck?didn't look?as good at the
bottom of the climb.?He flatted nearing the start of the climb. Luckily
Carl had a full team of Broadmark riders?to support him and was paced
back by several Broadmark teammates. Despite Broadmark's strong
presence in elite amateur cycling, the elite championship has eluded
the team for the past?6 years. This is Broadmark's first win in the
Elite road race, after having finished 3rd last year with Evan Elken,
and 5th and 7th the previous year with Calvin Allan and Doug
Ollerenshaw. Decker also is a professional mt bike racer with Giant
bicycles and will next be racing the Quebec World Cup next weekend.
