Bicycle Transportation Alliance
Director of Development or Director of Finance and Development
The Director of Development will lead the Bicycle Transportation Alliance's
fundraising efforts and, depending on experience, may play a significant
role in the management of the organization's finances.
Salary: $32,000 to $40,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
Standard benefits, including health and dental, generous vacation. Minimal
retirement benefit forthcoming.
Job Duties:
The Director of Development will be actively involved in all aspects of
fundraising. Fundraising duties will include:
* Organizing and executing a major donor annual giving program
* Organizing and executing a corporate giving program
* Foundation grant research, solicitation and reporting
* Event sponsor and donation solicitation (including the BTA's annual
auction)
* Developing and executing a planned giving program
* Reaching out to rides, events and clubs to develop partnership and
sponsorship opportunities
* Linking the BTA's fundraising activities to our communications tools and
strategies, including events, newsletters, and the web site
* Working with a part-time Membership Director on membership solicitations
and renewals
* Working with a fundraising committee of the board
The Director of Development will also work closely with the Executive
Director to ensure superior financial record keeping, reporting and
compliance. Depending on experience, duties may include:
* Program and organizational budgeting
* Tracking and reporting on expenses and earnings
by program
* Supervising data entry and bookkeeping staff
who perform financial
data entry and monthly reconciliations, etc.
* Managing timecards and reporting payroll
* Managing the annual audit
* Contract administration and billing
* Assisting with insurance, personnel, and other matters
* Working with a finance committee of the board
*Qualifications*
The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following:
* A love of fundraising
* Experience in major donor cultivation
* Experience with donor solicitation, renewal, and upgrading strategies
* Experience working with corporate donors and partners
* Proven success in researching and writing grant proposals
* Financial management, budgeting, and bookkeeping experience and skill
* The ability to write clearly and fluently, manage many tasks at one time,
and meet deadlines
* Good computer skills (Microsoft Office, Quickbooks, FileMaker Pro)
* A sense of humor and the ability to work as a part of a team
* A strong belief in the benefits of bicycling for the environment, public
health, and community livability
