That is ridiculous. Gresham is one of the rare, non-weeknight, non-
velodrome, non-'cross races that is actually in bike riding distance
of the majority of OBRA members. Nearly every other road and MTB
race, and many crits are at least an hour away. I guess if you live
in Albany......

In addition, there will be no change in the venue.

As of this year OBRA championships were open to bidding for two year
cycles. This was done to encourage competition among promoters for
the chance to get the race. Having it in the past did not
automatically give a promoter the right to the race nor did it prevent
them from obtaining the race. Promoters were asked for bids and the
submitted bids were evaluated by a panel of three independent judges
that included a chief ref, a board member and a promoter.

While we hope that there aren't any hiccups the first year of any
championship, problems do occur. Setting it for two years allows
promoters to rectify any issues that happen the first year.

I would appreciate any comments that are made be constructive.

As an aside, we will be accepting bids for next year's OBRA RR & Rehearsal Race.

That is a sad excuse, "a long way", to not atend a race. I live in that area
and I travel all over Oreogn to race and officiate. The state criterium,
being in Gresham, was one of the very few races in my neck of the woods, was
always well attended, but the reason for the switch was that anohter team
applied to put the race on. This years race is in Albany, so is that out of
the way for you? Seems out of the way for me, but I would still be there and
race it if I could.

When it comes to state champ races, I think that the person/team putting it
on should be held to a higher standard.

Correct. I am waiting for a final draft from the crit promoter.
There were some scheduling issues that needed to be worked out.

Just a heads up, we are only 73 days away from the Oregon State Crit Championships. The date changed a while back when the Woodland Road Race canceled, and the August 17th date opened up.
