The officials will adjust number of laps for the time slot. It should

work out to be 30 minutes, plus one lap.

A women's race has been added to the September PIR Tuesday Night

Handicap Series.

The women's race will start at 5:50 pm, every Tuesday in September.

The race is open to all category women. It will be run in the same

format as the 6:00 pm novice race, and the 6:30 pm cat 1-4 race.

Entry fee is $5.00 per race, or $20.00 for the entire series,

September

 6, 13, 20, and 27.

Women who have already signed up for the novice race, or cat 1-4 race

may elect to switch to the 5:50 pm women's race at sign in. Category

1-4 women may also elect to do both races, by paying an additional

$5.00 at sign in for the second race. Sign in will open at 5:15 to

accomodate the earlier start time.

Fort Frames USA has generously agreed to supply a Fort single speed

racing frame as the grand prize for the women's race series. All

prizes will be awarded at the end of the series. Prizes will be ten

deep, and will include gift certificates and merchandise.

The Tuesday Night Handicap Series is a "cat and mouse" style of race.

Category 4/5 women will be grouped together and given a head start.

Category 1-3 women will start aproximately 45 seconds later, and must

catch the category 4/5 women in order to earn points in hot spots,

and

in the final sprint. All participants do the same number of laps,

are

competing for the same hot spots and finish at the same time.

"Handicap" is similar to a "handicap" in golf, and refers to the

delayed start given to the higher category riders.

All riders must hold current OBRA licenses, or purchase a daily or

season pass at registration.

Riders can pre-register by printing an OBRA standard release form,

and

 mailing to:

Steven Mullen

7314 SE 27th Ave.

Portland, OR 97202

For details on pre-registration, please see the race flyer at:

Details concerning the women's race will be added to the race flyer

soon.
