For me gas is not an issue. I ride around town all week (Bend) and if I feel the need to go to Portland for a cross race I will still do it. If you take in the wear and tear on a $30,000 car the gas prices really are not that important. I just wish the extra money was going to fix our roads (ie more bike lanes) than into the pockets of the gas companies. Capitalism you got to love it.
