Thanks to all of the racers who made it out to race in the Co-Motion
Northwest Time Trial Series this year. And even more thanks to those of you who
hung in there with all of the venue changes that accompanied our move to Hood
River in April. I would also like to thank all of the volunteers who helped
out at all of our events this year - without whom the Co-Motion NWTTS could not
exist.
The last two time trials have also attracted a new following of Juniors;
Eloise Zimbleman, Rachelle and Lauren Hobson, Emily and Michael Paxson raced
with their fearless dads, (and volunteering moms!) setting impressive times for
next year's group of Juniors to aim for. Dominating the field was Michael
Paxson (Disco Velo) who is planning on spending his senior year abroad in
Italy. He should be a force to be reckoned with when he returns.
Perhaps the biggest cliff hanger of the series was in the Masters Men 40-49
division. Paul Qualtere-Burcher (EWEB Windpower) and Kevin Nichols (Excel
Sports) fought back and forth each month, with each racer holding first position
during the series. This month was no exception with the final race leaving
the two combatants tied for first in the division. As per Co-Motion NWTTS
rules, the fastest time at the final race splits the tie, with the overall lead
going to Qualtere-Burcher.
Special kudos to our divisional points series winners who attended more than
three events and were thus eligible for the grandprize drawing. Kenneth
Philbrick (Aurora Cycling) was awarded the Co-Motion Espresso Frameset. David
Zimbleman (Excel Sports) was awarded some cool FSA Carbon Clip-on AeroBars.
Marta Medcalf won some beautiful FSA brake levers. Jay Freyensee
(Easton/Specialized) received a gift certificate from Hammer Nutrition.
