Bicyclist killed Monday while riding near Oregon City

Oregon A 59-year old southwest Portland man died Monday from injuries

sustained after his bicycle was hit from behind by an unknown vehicle

on Highway 99E about four miles south of Oregon City.



The victim's name is not being released until next of kin have been notified.



Investigators are seeking witnesses with information to help identify

the vehicle and driver involved in this fatal hit & run crash.

Investigators have found evidence indicating a possible color of the

suspect vehicle.



Just after 7:00 p.m. Monday, Oregon State Police and local emergency

responders were dispatched to a report of a bicyclist struck on

Highway 99E near milepost 15.



The bicyclist was found by a nearby resident after hearing what was

believed to be a crash involving an unknown vehicle.



The resident responded to the highway and found a severely injured

bicyclist on the ground but no vehicle in the area.



The victim was transported by ambulance to Oregon Health Sciences

University where he reportedly died from injuries at about 11:15 p.m.



He was wearing a protective helmet at the time of the crash.



Crash Reconstructionists from Oregon State Police and Clackamas County

interagency crash investigation team responded to the scene.



Evidence at the scene indicates the suspect vehicle was red in color.

It may have right front damage possibly to the parking light or

headlight area.



Anyone with information regarding the suspect vehicle or driver, or

any witnesses who may have seen a vehicle matching the description in

the area around the time of the crash, are asked to contact the Oregon
