Freyensee, James P
Maybe not push the champ races late in the year...it seems better to
either leave them where they are, or just push the state RR more toward
the July timeframe to coincide with the state games and plug up this
month with a single day roadrace. You have to balance these races to
racer burnout, and pushing these races, which should be important races,
to Sept faces racer burnout. Unlike the pros which do have their world
championship at the end of the year, many of us aren't paid to race and
balance bicycle racing from the 'fun aspect' to another full-time job.

Shouldn't the Champ races end that part of the season? I think the
State Crit should be the last crit of the crits, the RR should be in
September? That would be a way to find out who has the legs to the end
and end the season on a high note. I like that the HC is late in the
year (even though there was snow!). Silverton could be in September and
I wouldn't mind seeing it as a State RR.
Could we ditch Februrary & move that month to March? We got lucky this
year with 70 degree weather.

There should be 7 months of racing, March thru September except
for Cross and that's more like training anyway. That gives for Oct. Nov
for R&R. Then hard training Dec. Jan. Feb. Just a thought no offense.

The usual date of Silverton was the first week of June.
Mt Hood took that so it has bounced around. We are talking about moving
the state champs to later in the summer for 2006.

Right now, all the one day races, other than the
district championship, are skewed toward the Spring. It would be nice
to have a road race in the summer when the weather is good. If you are
a road racer, there are no races in the summer unless you enter a stage
race (Please do not tell me we have PIR as a counter argument).
Silverton has not been a spring classic in recent memory, as until this
year it was held in the summer.

I think of it as a spring classic.
Let's keep it in April or early May.

It's that time again. Time to begin planning our
2006 race season. OBRA is
still looking for an interested party to produce
the State Road Race
Championship for next year. It would be great
if it could be held, in
Eugene, Corvallis, Bend, Medford or Salem.
I need you to let me know if and when you are
planning on putting on a race
in 2006 I will go ahead and format the race
schedule with the information
you provide me. Please complete one form for
each event you are planning on
conducting in 2005
If you need to reach me you can call (503)
