Fwd: [shift] Bicyclist Memorials

Randy Dreiling

2005-09-14

It is sad that all these people are getting hit and

killed.

Please keep in mind the DA not police file the

charges. It will not help to make this an anti police

thing.

According to the report posted the other day on OBRA

the police and DA are pressing charges in most cases.

Good Luck

The BTA volunteer crash team had its first meeting

last night. One of the

things that came up was exactly this, how to respond

in a timely fashion to

a

major injury or death. Get some photos of the scene,

follow up with the

police to make sure they are doing their job in

prosecuting the person at

fault, and also to see if we can help out with

funerals and memorials. It

was a small group of people who showed up for the

first meeting, we had a

lot

of ideas, but we won't be able to do a lot of it if

we don't have more

people

to help out. We especially need people who are

willing to be part of a phone

tree to take on the tasks mentioned above when

something bad happens.

So, I would encourage you, or anyone else who is

interested to contact

Evan Manvel (ev-@bta4bikes.org) at the BTA and let

him know that you want

on

the list and want to be included in future meeting

announcements. Meetings

are temporarily set at monthly until we figure out

what interval is best.
