Lisa,

Read your post with interest. I was the safety director (cops and EMS staff)

for the ride and have been looking for any feedback from people who rode. So

far the input has been pretty positive, but if you had any concerns to do

with safety or anything else, we're putting together a list for next year's

ride. I'm posting this to the list so anyone else who rode might give some

feedback as well.

Just wanted to share about what an AWESOME time I had in Portland yesterday!

Not only did I get to see one of my heroes close up, my niece got Lance's

autograph while I took off after George, Bobke and Och...unfortunately

missed "the Cannibal" but there's always next year!!

I drove nearly 3 hours just to catch a glimpse of these guys never thinking

I'd be such close range! I hope to be at a riding level next year, and on a

much nicer bike, than I am now (novice) so I can participate next time! Or

at the very least volunteer, though I felt appreciated for just being there

to cheer the groups on.

Thanks to NIKE and Phil Knight for the use of his "backyard" I look forward

to coming back to visit again. Also, thanks to the other sponsors, the radio

stations, the musical entertainers, the volunteers and everyone who showed

in support of the event. Most of all thanks to Lance for choosing Portland

as the inaugural site to launch these--we've proven his choice was right!

Guess I've rambled on enough but I'm still flying high! It was an awesome

belated birthday treat...I'm 360 days older than Lance. The only thing that

would've topped it was my 11 year old son who was with me getting to meet

him--he didn't even get to really see him since the crowds were so thick =(

Anyway, happy cycling!

Lisa
