Doug,

I guess they could do a series fee for juniors in the spirit of

promoting juniors, but 12.00 is not that bad compared to other cycling

disciplines. Juniors do have a limited budget, but the cost per rider

is the same as far as what it cost to have all the riders participate

in cross. It is simply supply vs demand and as long as the product

(cross racing) is perceived as fun and well organized, and a good fit

for the junior then it wont change and should not compared to the

amount of work the guys go through putting on the event. The fee's

verses 10 years ago have not changed that much in relation to

everything else and the bikes in comparison are cheeper and better than

10-15 years ago. Plus if you live near portland the gas savings are

substantial verses traveling all over the state for road or mountain

biking. I hope the juniors are having fun, building confidence making

new friends and going faster every week.

Just a perspective

You're not the only one Luciano. I was wondering the same thing. Can

someone explain the organization of cyclocross vs. other OBRA events

so we can understand the cost difference. I know there's insurance,

etc. to be paid; is it at a different rate for cyclocross events.?

Maybe off topic but why are the Junior cross races so expensive with

the

tremendous turnout for these events promoters would encourage junior

also

known as future racers by not making racing cost prohibitive. I could

be

alone here but after bike shopping and race fees it is quite a leap

for an

eight to ten race season. I think my main concern is the future of

Oregon

racing if the juniors programs are not somehow subsidized. Just a

thought.
