Yes, the UCI does something for us. Primarily, they assist us losing money
:-)
Even with the great numbers we get here in portland, we break even at best
on these UCI races. And that is with Cannondale and River City Bicycles
generous sponsor dollars. I cannot imagine having to subsidize a UCI race
in someplace where the 'cross scene is not quite as fervant as ours.
On a serious note, the UCI tag does draw the biggest talent. If you want to
put on a "big show" race, it needs to be affiliated with the UCI. The races
are big and fun....and that is why we do it.

can you say UCI. the non UCI cost for the junior race is $12. the UCI
junior is $20, some of that $20 goes to the UCI for all the work they do
for us? they do do work for us right?

Maybe off topic but why are the Junior cross races so expensive with the
tremendous turnout for these events promoters would encourage junior
also
known as future racers by not making racing cost prohibitive. I could be
alone here but after bike shopping and race fees it is quite a leap for
an
eight to ten race season. I think my main concern is the future of
Oregon
racing if the juniors programs are not somehow subsidized. Just a
thought.
