Mark,
I have no problem helping keeping the track clean either with or without
Cross races taking place at the velodrome. From the tone of the posts that
I received to my inquiry it appeared as though the Cross race was going to
exact a toll on the velodrome and would have to be cleaned before being able
to use it with a regular track bike; see Mike's original comment below.
I'm sorry for the confusion but with comments like "bring your nobbies" and
the such it's hard to discern a certain amount of reality at times with
respect to how the track is going to be used and the state it's in over the
winter months.
Additionally since I live approximately and hour and half away (Corvallis)
it's difficult to perform a drive by inspection for myself.
Thanks,
Conor Buescher
Um, there is no "until it has been cleaned up". You
mean until Mike Murray and his bunch of volunteers go
and spend a few days every spring cleaning it up.
The track is not self cleaning. Every year it gets
power washed, scraped, painted, swept up and generally
gussied up so we can all use it. But the track does
not do these things to itself.
The cross crusade folks are using the track and that's
great, they will do a good job and clean up when they
are done playing. So the track will be open, but if
you plan to come and use it, at the very least bring a
push broom to clean up before you start riding.

Okay, thanks for the heads up. I'll hold off coming
up to the track (at
least with my track bike) until its been cleaned up.

I expect that the track will be in the process of
being cleaned on Sunday.

Does this mean I won't be able to come up and ride
on the track (with my
track bike) on Sunday? I realize that the race is
slated for Saturday -
will the track be cleaned up after running the
cross race?
Thanks, I'm hoping the weather is nice.

Take a look at the cool online course map and
that should explain it.
