KIDS/BIKES/IDEAS

OK, so we have established that money is an issue, but is by no means a

major factor on whether or not kids race (or ride at all).

So let's do something about it!

How about a bike festival out at PIR? We have the track, we have the

cyclocross course, we have the mountain bike short track. You can drive

there, ride there, or take the MAX. We could have a day of events

coordinated with CCC, BTA, Shift, public and private schools, etc. We

have activities for everyone, from little kids on training wheels to Pro

racers. We teach kids (and adults) the rules of the road and the trails,

we have a bike rodeo, bike polo, log pulls, bunnyhop contests, freestyle

shows, tall bikes, short bikes, long bikes, you name it, we do it. We

make it educational, and we make it fun. Better yet, we combine it with

a show/exhibition and a swap meet. We have it in late spring or early

summer, on a Saturday, when people are just getting into the season and

they are not in church.

This is a bike city, right?

Think of the possibilities!

Or just sit around and talk about it and do nothing.
