42x18 is a good gear choice; we usually climb a few hills. Bright
clothing, at least one caliper brake, helmet, fenders if wet, pump,
tube, smile.

We'll have some gravel on a trail on Arista, and the featured hill is
Fairoaks Dr: one short block where you'll wish for a lower gear!
