Sorry about the short notice--I just heard myself.
I'm sure many of you have ridden the Historic
Columbia River Highway.
Much of it is quite nice for biking, but the Beaver
Creek Bridge (as
you leave Troutdale and cross the Sandy River) has
always been tough
for cyclists. Multnomah County is rebuilding the
bridge and there's
exciting talk of a separate bike/ped bridge!
If you can attend, it would be great to make sure
the county knows that
this is a priority for cyclists, and that we
strongly support the
proposal. More info below

Meeting to review Beaver Creek Bridge repairs
Upcoming repairs to the Beaver Creek Bridge in
Troutdale will be the
focus of a public meeting on Monday, October 17 at
7:00 pm at
Troutdale City Hall, 104 SE Kibling Avenue.
Multnomah County
maintains the bridge on the Historic Columbia
River Highway, between
downtown Troutdale and the Sandy River. Work
scheduled for 2006 will
include repairing worn areas of the 90-year-old
structure, restoring
several historic features, and constructing a new
bicycle and
pedestrian bridge. County officials will present
information about
the project and seek input from local residents
and businesses
regarding options for construction staging and
traffic routing.
Multnomah County maintains the Beaver Creek Bridge
and more than 350
miles of roads and bridges.
