POSITION: Executive Director



Bike Works is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to build sustainable

communities by educating youth and promoting bicycling.

Our programs include Earn-a-Bike for youth, Summer Bike Camp, Neighborhood

Rides, Youth Ventures bike clubs, Community Bike Shop,

Annual Kids Bike Swap, bike exports, and more.



JOB DESCRIPTION



The Executive Director is responsible for organizational planning;

implementation and evaluation; personnel and financial management

and oversight of all Bike Works operations-including programs and a full

service bike shop. Raising funds from foundations,

corporations and government agencies is a core responsibility. The Executive

Director provides the vision and leadership necessary to

implement Bike Works' mission and shall be directly responsible to the Board

of Directors for implementing the strategic plan.



Duties include grant writing and other fundraising, preparing and following

an annual budget, working with the program manager to

oversee and develop programs; community representation of Bike Works, hiring

and coordination of staff, working with the Shop

Manager to oversee the bike shop, supporting the Board of Directors and

being a liaison between board and staff, board development,

coordination of special events, development and implementation of marketing

programs, overseeing newsletter production, accounting,

administrative duties, working with volunteers and youth, and assisting with

programs such as Earn-a-Bike, bike exports to Ghana

and others. This is a fun and exciting job that combines environmental work,

social entrepreneurism, and grassroots community

development and empowerment.



QUALIFICATIONS



The ideal candidate will have:



. Superb organizational vision and fiscal leadership

. Strong management and leadership skills.

. Proven ability to secure significant funding from individuals, major

donors, foundations and government agencies.

. Knowledge of preparing and maintaining budgets; familiarity with

accounting systems.

. Experience growing an organization and the ability to develop and

implement an organizational expansion plan.

. Excellent written and verbal communication skills

. Ability to supervise, work with and retain high quality staff and

encourage diversity in the workplace.

. Dedication to the mission of Bike Works, specifically youth empowerment

and bicycle transportation.

COMPENSATION: $33,000-$35,000 DOE plus benefits. Full time with flexible

hours.
