Well, OK.  But remember you asked for it -



Yes, I tuned in to SNL last week to catch Lance Armstrong and Sheryl

Crow.  And like many times since the "glory days" of the

Belushi/Chase/Radner era I was again wholly disappointed.  I lay the

blame not on anyone in particular, least of all the special guests

(past and present) but on the quality of the material.  Every skit was

either base, juvenile and generally lacking in both creativity and

relevance or some a combination of all of those things.  Unfortunately

that's what SNL is and has been for far too long. 

So, to Lance I say this (I know he's a regular reader of OBRA Chat <span

class="moz-smiley-s3"> ;-)  ):



Lance, I can't help but notice you seemed a bit uncomfortable Saturday

night.  It seemed to me you were wondering just what the heck was going

on.  Sure, you did ok with the intro but even there it was clear the

material wasn't working so well.  By the time you got to that couch

scene it was clear the evening was a bomb.  I noticed Sheryl had that

same "WTF?!" look by then.  It's really too bad you couldn't have used

the opportunity to be more yourself, perhaps even get some good cycling

related humor in.  It was a great opportunity - and it was a waste,

just more of the same SNL drivel.  Even John Belushi with a nose full

of coke couldn't  have made that tripe work.  I know it wasn't your

fault and I'm embarrassed right along with you man.

Okay, even though I don't know you personally, as a member of this chat

group I'll go ahead and reply :) I thought it was great that they got

Sheryl into it beyond the musical side and that she and Lance were up for

spoofing themselves. My absolute fave part of the show had to be when he

sang her the song he wrote just for her. HILARIOUS! Anyway, that's my two

cents! Have a great day OBRA-ites!
