Yeah, at risk of appearing parochial, I've gotten the impression over the years that we are the poor relations in Velonews eyes. I sent them a letter after Ryan and Barry dominated back east pointing out that 5 of the top ranked riders in US cross were from Oregon, 6 if you went 11 deep.

The letter never made it to their "mailbag".

Who knows what the story is, and, more to the point, what can we do about it?

Dan, I've been biting my tongue but I've noticed the same thing! I'm glad I'm not the only one. Velo News reports cross races in the deep south where maybe there are 100 riders, before even mentioning the best cross series in the world, the Cross Crucade. And when it comes down to a national series, Oregon riders are consistently at the top of the results. You would think there would be more of a focus on cross racing in Oregon instead of North Carolina or Michigan.

I've also been looking at some of the pictures of the other Grad Prix races. I would be curious to find out which event had the most participants of the six and which race had the most spectators. I don't see the crowds at the some of the other races like there was in Portland. I'm starting to realize that cross isn't exploding everywhere like it is in Portland. Why can't Velo News, Cycling News.com and Cyclocross World come to this same conclusion and give P town and Oregon the respect it deserves (even if Barry moved to California).
