Yeah but you were trying to pull a fast one by selling it by the square

inch... :) [Air by the square inch is nothing ! you have to cube it

and put it under pressure]

And as long as on topic...

I'll take anyones punctured tubes. I've had tubes with 5 plus patches.

Why ? Well why not.. (just saved what? 4*5 $20) Its just one more

patch and then its good as new and if I am sitting watching tv anyway..

I will only throw a tube if the hole is at the valve stem, or there a

lot of multiple holes (time effort not worth it), or if the holes are

too big. If the holes are small I just use the plain cheap rubber

patches that you have to cut out yourself (that you can purchase at dept

store). They stretch better with the tube. And you can make them

smaller if the hole is just tiny. If you do the patch correctly it

becomes integral to the tube. Meaning if you try to pull it off you

will tear the tube not the interface.

On similar strain.

contrary to what all the "experts" advice is, you can reuse old high

quality stainless spokes. at a buck a piece or more retail this is a

great idea not too mention great recycling. The spokes have to be

properly stress / strained relieved, and you must install the spokes on

the same side of the hub as original. Ie look at the head, if its bent

way over, it goes on the outside, If its not bent over too far, on the

inside. Stress relieve again too. If its done correctly the spokes

should never fatigue break.   Most of the "re-spoking" with new spokes

advice comes from the days of inferior spokes, and from wheels not being

built with proper stress/strain relieving. Steel is steel and if the

stress is kept below a certain level,[which you inusre by stress relieve

and making sure only tensile forces are in the spoke(minimize the

bending and residual)] then the life is infinite.   btw, I am 200+ and

usually ride 28 spoked wheels.   No I don't want your old spokes, I have

way too many spokes as it is..

I've also been know to silver braze cables together too. why? Well I

had the torch, I had the flux and silver, and a bunch of old cables.

quicker then running to the bike shop... and then some shops want $5 a

cable too !   But no I don't want your old cables either.

I'm like Erik. I'm ok with tubes. Mine don't have any holes in them (I

filled them with concrete when I bought them at the beginning of the

season... Solved all of my flat problems.)

Instead, I am holding out for used cable housing and ferrules (Preferably

ones that are slightly corroded...)

Believe it or not I have a collection of about 25

punctured tubes from my 5 years as a road cyclist

that I am SOMEDAY going to patch up and re use again.

Seriously here...if anyone wants about 25 700x23 tubes for free

so THEY can SOMEDAY patch them up and re use them they are welcome to them

for again...FREE!

two small 1" diameter patches that are still good. $1.49 takes it,

shipping from Bend should be $3.85 Priority Mail. Buy James' tube,

If you bring them to my house in Bend I will trade you for a used pair of socks with small holes in the toe area that I patched with duct tape.
