Well, my guess is my Vittoria Rubino Pro's had about twice that
mileage when the frequent flats started, the tube god(ess) must
have limited patience with cheap rubber, like 3K worth, so get
ready dude...
Last night I mounted some new Ritchie' Tom Slick Pro Fortress's
(with the: "Flat Resistance System" ooooooo!). Any info on these
(?) other than they are incredibly tough mount (ouch!). I hope
he/she's happy now!

Bummer John. I guess I got the other kind of karma. I have
just turned 2000 miles on a new pair of Michelin Pro Race 2
tires and Michelin tubes and not one flat! That's just
dumb luck.

Hmmm, good point. I had another flat this morning. I nice
sliver of sheet metal. And two days ago a huge chunk of
glass. Well Survivor is on tonight and will make a good
time to do the tube repair.
I am curious where the hell does all the glass on the roads
come from? People most literally go around and just throw
bottles?
I have seen a nail go through a tire, tube, rim strip and
right into the rim!
I had a nail go through my tire, skip off the tube and come
back out the tire... no flat !
I had 6 flats on a ride once. Used both spares tubes and
all patches and rode the last 15 on a slow leak... it was a
weedy forest road with blackberries and rock hidden by the
weeds, kept pinch flatting.
Everytime I would be in disbelief that it had happened
again, everytime I would pump up the tire to as high
pressure as possible (I had a good pump luckily) and swear I
would be more careful...

from a 1.5 inch roofing nail that went in the tread and
out the
sidewall. The tube was not salvagable, a total loss.
The
second was also an instantaneous flat while spinning
along at a fairly high speed (~35mph); pinch flat, two
holes. Thankfully the glueless patch spanned both holes.
Soooo, the almighty Tube-god(ess) must be laughing now.
That
is, us mortals may consider taking tubes more seriously.
