I've ridden the Armadillo AC for years on my winter fixed-gear, and they are the only tires I have ever replaced because they actually wore out. But, I have always been concerned about the lack of side-wall flexibility, and the subsequent, often scary handling in corners.



Most recently, I've been riding the Bontrager Race-Lite Hardcase tires, which are much lighter, feel livelier, and don't seem to slide sideways when I'm going around a corner at speed. I have gotten one flat with them, but it was from a rather large roofing nail, something I know for a fact would have made it through Armadillos as well.

I've used 700x23 Armadillos on the road and have had more than one pair wear out at 4-6k miles with no flats. I've definately gotten flats on others, but the tires are pretty bomb proof.?I stopped using then whem I could no longer get a foldable version.-----Original Message-----

None that I know of.

But I can tell you all, I put a set of Specialized?s Hemisphere Armadillo tires (big heavy 26 x 1.95 street tires) on my townie and put more than 6,000 miles on them with only three flats. And then I put them on another bike, still with usable tread, and sold it. I figure if I had kept them I could have gotten 8,000 miles out of those tires easy.
