GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Come join us for the
1st Annual West Lane Row, Ride and Run
Come support the Territorial Youth Park and Center by participating in
this fun and exciting event?
Saturday, September 15th, 2001
Participation is open to teams and individuals. Choose from either the
short fun race or the more challenging long course. Top finishers in
each division will be recognized after the race, and all participants
will be entered in a drawing to win one of many great prizes. See back
for details on divisions, courses and entry fees.
Divisions:
? Co-ed quads, any age
? 16 & Under quads
? 3-person Male, any age
? 3-person Female, any age
? Male or Female individual, any age
Courses:
Long Course: Kayak or canoe from Orchard Park to Richardson Park and
back. Bicycle appr. 14 miles back into Veneta and end the race with a 1
1/2 mile run to the finish at the site of the Youth Park (Corner of
Territorial and Hunter).
Short course: Kayak or canoe from Orchard Park to Richardson Park.
Bicycle appr. 6 miles back into Veneta and end the race with a 1/3 mile
run to the finish at the site of the Youth Park (Corner of Territorial
and Hunter).
Entry Fees: $25 per person
Entry fee may be paid directly or by raising pledges from sponsors.
Minimum total pledge amount is $25 per person, $75 per 3-person team, or
$100 per quad team.

Co-Ed Quad Team - 2 males & 2 females - any age
2 contestants row, 2 contestants bike, 2 run, time will be established
by the last of the two
runners across the finish line.
Under 16, Quad Team - Any combination of males or females under the age
of 16
2 contestants row, 2 contestants bike, 2 run, Time will be established
by the last of the two
runners across the finish line.
Three Person Male or Three Person Female Team - any age
Race performed relay style: one person rows, one person bikes and one
person runs.
Individual Male or Individual Female contestant - any age.
Row, Bike and Run the course as a solo
Long Course - row from Richardson Park to a 5 mile bouy near the docks
at Orchard Park then
row back to Richardson Park,
Bike from Richardson Park west on Clear Lake Rd. to Lawerenc Rd., turn
left on Butler Rd., to
Sheffler Rd., turn left to Warthen Rd. turn left again
to Territorial Rd. turn right, on Territorial Rd. and head south through
the intersection of
Hwy126 and Territorial, tag off your runner at the driveway to
the old Dairy Queen. The runner then proceeds up Territorial to
Broadway and turns right. Go
to 8th street turn left at McCutchen proceed up
McCutchen to Territorial, turn right on territorial to arrive at the
finish line at 2 1/2
acres at the corner of Territorial and Hunter.
Short Course - row from to Richardson Park a designated bouy on the
lake, bike from Richardson
Park to territorial through the intersection at
Territorial and Hwy126. Tag off your runner at the driveway to the old
Dairy Queen (aprox. 6
mi.) The runner then proceeds south on Territorial to the
finish line at the 2 1/2 acres at corner of Terriotorial and Hunter
(future home of the
Territorial Youth Park & Center)
Rowers will need to circle the bouys entirely
Bikers and bikes will need to be up on the concrete walk above the beach
area at Richardson
Park. Rowers will need to cross the beach area to
tag off the bikers. Bikers will need to stay within the cones as they
leave the Park.
Runners will need to follow the course in the streets of Veneta
designated by arrows.
Safety and precautions:
Helmets while biking mandatory
Life jackets on water mandatory
First aid stations: boats on water ready to assist in event of a turn
over, stations at
crossroads to hand out water and administer first aid if
necessary. Stations will have signs cautioning traffic to go slow
because a race is in
progress. Flagers will be at intersections and a policeman will
direct traffic at Hwy126 and Territorial.
Canoes or kayacks. There are a limited number of kayaks and canoes at no
cost, Provided by
Oregon River Sports.
Pledge forms available through Fund Raising Committee.
Registration Form Must be Completed
Fees and pledges must be turned in the morning of the race at the
registration booth.
