General Festival Info:

Downtown Events Management, Inc. presents the 19th annual Eugene

Celebration on September 14, 15 & 16, 2001. The Eugene Celebration is

the

largest and most celebrated civic event in the southern Willamette

Valley, attracting nearly 100,000 participants during the three-day

event. The theme for the 2001 Eugene Celebration is " Northwest of

Normal." This theme draws attention to the power of individuals working

together to create a stronger sense of community.

The Eugene Celebration features seven entertainment stages featuring

over 70 acts during the three-day event! The Celebration is located

throughout the streets, parks and open spaces of downtown Eugene. The

entertainment stages are linked by street performers; food vendors;

beverage gardens; the Marketplace; the Community Causeway, a special

venue showcasing 100 non-profit organizations; and an extensive

KidZone. Other main events during the Eugene Celebration include a

community Parade, a Pet Parade, the Mayor?s Art show and selected

sporting events.

The admission button is $8 prior to the event or $10 at the gate, for

all three

days! A daily sticker priced at $7 will be sold at the gate on the day

it is

used. Buttons are available at over 50 outlets prior to the event as

well as

on-site during the event. Children 12 and under are free.

History of Eugene Celebration:

The Eugene Celebration was created in 1983 by the City to bring together

the Eugene community for three days of fun. In 1997, the City offered

the management of the Celebration to the public and private sector.

Downtown Eugene, Inc. stepped forward to accept the offer. In April

1998, Downtown Events Management, Inc. (DEMI) was created to manage the

Celebration as well as create and manage a year-round calendar of

events.

Today the Celebration is the largest and most celebrated civic event in

the southern Willamette Valley and attracts nearly 100,000

participants during the three-day period. The Celebration is anchored by

up to eight performance stages located throughout the streets, parks and

open spaces of downtown Eugene. The stages are linked by street

performers, face painters, food vendors, beverage gardens, a

marketplace, a special venue showcasing up to 100 non-profit groups, an

extensive KidZone area, the Celebration Parade and Pet Parade, Sporting

Events (Cycling Classic) and much, much more.
