FYI,
This is a notice to all those that own a "ONCE" road
version/issue of the Giant bicycle line. Apparently
there is a defect with the forks, the aero, wide flat
carbon blade models. (It is basically the standard
fork on this year's top of the line model.) Last week
at the Tour of Willamette, a rider crashed heavily
after his forked failed while taking a corner at high
speed. The portion of the fork that failed was the
left fork blade at the seam where the carbon blade is
bonded to the aluminum fork crown. IT SHOULD BE NOTED
that upon further inspection at least 7 other bikes
were found to have a similar defect!! The problem can
be identified as a small to large crack running
parallel to that bonded seem.
Please do not dismiss this lightly, after I received
notice, I too went and checked my fork and was able to
identify a large crack. A crack that once I removed
the wheel and squeezed the blades lightly together
with my hand grew significantly!
Brian
