Fwd: Rule Enforcement at ATB Events

Greetings!

Two rule violations have surfaced recently which I would like to review

quickly before this wekeend's Big K race:

1.) Helmets

2.) Race number plate modification

From now on, the officials will keep a small note pad with them at all times

from the start of registration to the end of awards. If people are not

wearing approved helmets while riding around, the official will write down

numbers and determine who the offenders are.

At rollout, the official will call out all the numbers (or names if time

permits) they wrote down. They will tell the field that these riders are

the ones seen riding without an approved helmet. This is a violation of

OBRA rules and this is their warning. They may be disqualified from the

event, and if it happens again, a recommendation will be made to OBRA to

suspend their license.

Approved helmets are to be worn (on the head) by any license holder riding a

bike between the start of registration through the end of awards.

Approved helmets are required by insurance, by OBRA and should be worn out

of common sense.

The second problem is related to mutilation of number plates. As per OBRA

rules, number plates are not to be modified. Modified plates will be

replaced by riders at their expense of $5 per plate. Replacement will be

allowed once. If the plate is modified again, a recommendation for license

suspension will be made to OBRA. Sponsors on plates pay for many of the

benefits we enjoy. Please keep this in mind. If cables are in the way,

trim the sides of the plate, but do NOT remove the sponsors.

Good luck this weekend!
