Rose Pedal Twilight Criterium Bike Races

Friday, Aug. 9

Portland will become the Monte Carlo of bicycle racing this evening as bike

racing returns to downtown Portland.?There will be both female and male

races on the 1K loop course in the South Park Blocks.?The action comes fast

as cyclists reach speeds of 40 mph.?There will be food and drink concessions

and additional entertainment for the spectators.?If you have never had the

opportunity to watch bicycle races, a criterium or "crit" is the most

exciting, spectator-friendly format.?Over 50 female and 100 male cyclists

will?compete for more than?$5,000 in prizes.

Location:?The South Park Blocks between SW Salmon and Jefferson. The

start/finish line will be in front of the Portland Art Museum.

Time:?Women's heat:?7 p.m.; Men's Heat??8 p.m.
