General Info on ECCC 2002:

The Willamette Valley's largest bicycle race is back and better than ever. With the 20th anniversary

of the festival, the organizing group Downtown Events Management, Inc and Jim Anderson have worked

to bring back a downtown criterium to the event. This year it's happening! The course is close to

the festival site and should attract many spectators. Along with a new criterium there is a new road

race and time trial course. We are very excited to present these new courses and believe it will be

the best Cycling Classic to date.

On Saturday September 21st the Cycling Classic starts with stage 1 The Crow Road Race starting and

finishing at Crow High School. Races start at 10am and 12:30. Incorporating Crow, Territorial,

Central and Petzold roads. Course is approx. 10m loop done as laps with 1.5m gradual climb, rolling

to flat country roads. Racers will do various laps depending on category. After the road race

racers will continue on to stage 2 with the Crow Time Trial. A individual timed event that is 9miles

which starts at 4:30pm. The start and finish are at Crow High School, same as road race.

After many years of absence, a downtown cycling race is back for Sunday September 22nd the race

continues with Stage 3 The Downtown Eugene Criterium. Start/Finish is on Skinner Butte Park loop

near the rock wall. Incorporates Skinner Butte Park loop, Lincoln, 3rd st, Lawrence, and Cheshire

Roads. Course is .85m, includes flat city streets and a 500m gradual hill. Racing starts at 9:30 and

finishes at 3:30.
