At long last....something for all you bog-trotting 'crossers to chew on
while you are awaiting your printed River City Bicycles Cyclo-cross Crusade
race series flyer (which are an absolute work of art this year).
The race calendar and schedule are at the end of this message, but first, I
wanted to announce a few new items intended to heighten your Cyclo-crossing
pleasure.
Due to the huge numbers of racers last year, we have added a Category C Race
to our race schedule. We feel this should alleviate some of the problems
(errrr, I mean challenges) associated with the huge Cat. B and Beginners
field's that we experienced last year.
Due to popular demand, we have also added a couple of new categories:
Single Speed and Masters 55+
Also, the women will have the whole race course to themselves for their
races this year. Cat. A, Cat. B and Masters 35+ women will all race
together but scored separately.
Additionally, we have created "The Joust" as a friendly competition for you
to have amongst your friends. The Joust is open to all categories and
ability levels. The joust is the most revered way to establish dominance
and superiority over a worthy opponent. Basically, you are able to
challenge another racer (in your same category) to a season-long joust to
try and establish 'cross racing superiority over your chosen adversary.
Scoring will be handled by the combatants as a matter of honor. The winner
of the joust will be awarded a medal at the end of the crusades and enjoy
bragging rights. More information will be on our printed flyer (forthcoming)
and website (under construction).
From a friendly rivalry between the Seattle Series and the Warriors of the
Cross Crusade was born the "Grail Della Grunge Cup" competition. Basically,
it will pit the top men and women from each series against each other in a
points competition between our two Cities. Four pre-chosen races (2 in
Portland and 2 in Seattle) will be used to score this competition. The
Prize? Bragging rights and a lovely grail fashioned from broken 'cross
bikes and emptied kegs. More information can be found on the printed flyer
(forthcoming) and our website (which is currently under construction).
