-There is no friday check-in/registration available
-Out of state/country racers waive day membership fees. This is a OBRA event and NCNCA, ABR and ACA
members can ride in OBRA events. USCF members are welcome too and will waive day member fees if out
of state and you can race your USCF category.
-This event is a timed stage race.
-Categories are: Pro/1/2, Cat. 3, Cat. 4/5, Masters 35+(who are Cat. 3/4), Women
-Women Masters 35+ and Cat. 4 will be tracked separately but prized as one group. The tracking
separately is mostly for Oregon B.A.R competition.
-Kids Fun Race will be held on Sunday, SkinnersButte at 11:30am.

The Willamette Valley's largest bicycle race is back and better than ever. With the 20th anniversary
of the festival, the organizing group Downtown Events Management, Inc and Jim Anderson have worked
to bring back a downtown criterium to the event. This year it's happening! The course is close to
the festival site and should attract many spectators. Along with a new criterium there is a new road
race and time trial course. We are very excited to present these new courses and believe it will be
the best Cycling Classic to date.
On Saturday September 21st the Cycling Classic starts with stage 1 The Crow Road Race starting and
finishing at Crow High School. Races start at 10am and 12:30. Incorporating Crow, Territorial,
Central and Petzold roads. Course is approx. 10m loop done as laps with 1.5m gradual climb, rolling
to flat country roads. Racers will do various laps depending on category. After the road race
racers will continue on to stage 2 with the Crow Time Trial. A individual timed event that is 9miles
which starts at 4:30pm. The start and finish are at Crow High School, same as road race.
After many years of absence, a downtown cycling race is back for Sunday September 22nd the race
continues with Stage 3 The Downtown Eugene Criterium. Start/Finish is on Skinner Butte Park loop
near the rock wall. Incorporates Skinner Butte Park loop, Lincoln, 3rd st, Lawrence, and Cheshire
Roads. Course is .85m, includes flat city streets and a 500m gradual hill. Racing starts at 9:30 and
finishes at 3:30.
Categories for the event are: Pro/1/2, Cat. 3, Cat. 4/5, Masters 35+(who are Cat. 3/4), Women.

The 20th Annual EUGENE CELEBRATION
Downtown Events Management, Inc. is proud to present the 20th Annual Eugene Celebration on September
20, 21 & 22, 2002. The Eugene Celebration is the largest and most celebrated civic event in the
southern Willamette Valley, attracting over 70,000 participants during the three-day event. The
theme for the 2002 Eugene Celebration is again " Northwest of Normal."
The Eugene Celebration has six live entertainment stages featuring over 50 acts during the three-day
event. A few headliners include Cherry Poppin' Daddies, Austin Lounge Lizards, Perla Batalla,
Guarneri Underground, Swing Shift with Cami Thompson, Lloyd Jones, Satin Love Orchestra, Dahlia,
Tempest, Henry Cooper, & many more! The Celebration is located throughout the streets, parks and
open spaces of downtown Eugene. New this year is the Wine Stage located on top of the Parcade. The
entertainment stages are linked by street performers; food vendors; beverage gardens; the
Marketplace; the Community Causeway, a special venue showcasing 100 non-profit organizations; and an
extensive KidZone. Other main events during the Eugene Celebration include a community Parade
starting at 8 am, a Pet Parade, the Mayor's Art show and a Run.
The admission button is $8 prior to the event or $10 at the gate, for all three days! A daily
sticker priced at $7 will be sold at the gate on the day it is used. Buttons are available at
various local businesses prior to the event as well as on-site during the event. Children 12 and
under are free.

Course: Course is 8.52m/13.6KM course done as laps with 1.5m gradual climb, and rolling to flat
country roads. Finish is on a flat road. Race Course uses following roads: Crow, Territorial,

Parking: Is in high school lot. Please be respectful of nearby residents.
Directions: From I-5 North, Take the exit number 195B- towards Santa Clara/Florence. Merge onto
Beltline Hwy W - which becomes Beltline Rd. Turn Right onto W 11TH AVE. Turn Left onto Green Hill
Rd. Stay straight to go onto Crow Rd towards Start/Finish, which is approx 7 m from W 11th/GreenHill
Rd junction. From I-5 South, Take the OR-99 N/OR-126 exit towards W. Eugene/Florence. Merge onto W
6TH AVE/OR-126 W/OR-99 N. Turn Left onto Garfield St/OR-126 W. Turn Right onto W 11TH AVE. Turn
Left onto Green Hill Rd. Stay straight to go onto Crow Rd towards Start/Finish which is approx 7 m
from W 11th/GreenHill Rd junction. From Eugene, Take W 11th, Turn Left onto Green Hill Rd. Stay
straight to go onto Crow Rd towards Start/Finish, which is approx 7 m from W 11th/GreenHill Rd junction.
Allow approx. 35 minutes travel time from Eugene.
Stage 2: Crow Time Trial - SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 21st

Course: Time Trial course is flat to gradual rolling roads with good to excellent pavement. Course
is out and back total of 9.76 miles/15.6KM. Start/Finish area is same as road race.

Directions: FROM I-5 NORTH/SOUTH: Take the I-105 W/OR-126 W exit number 194B- towards Eugene. Merge
onto I-105 W. Take the OR-99 S/Jefferson St. exit on the left towards City Center. Keep Left at
the fork in the ramp. Merge onto W 7TH AVE S. Stay straight to go onto W 7TH AVE. Turn Left onto
Jefferson, Washington, Lincoln or Lawrence Streets for parking.

Entry Info:
Entry Fee: $65.00 before 9/16, after or day of race is $70.00
Juniors (18 under) Fees: $20.00 before 9/16, after or day of race is $25.00
Team Discount: If FIVE or more registrations are received from members of the same team in the same
envelope the fee will be: $55.00 per rider. That is a savings of over 15% per rider! Riders do not
have to be in the same category and male and female team members will count toward the five-rider
minimum. Example: Team Oregon sends eight riders: 2 cat 1 & 2, 3 cat 3 & 4, 1 Master 40 +, & 2
women. The total fee would be $440 instead of the $520 if they all signed up individually.
Team discount registrations need to be received by September 16th. Discount is not available after 9/16.

Pre-register by sending checks payable to Downtown Events Management, Inc (or DEMI) and mail with a
standard release to: ECCC, Attn: Jim Anderson 1467 Greentree Circle, Lake Oswego, OR 97034.
Pre-Registration is suggested. Racers will be issued a race bible and packet with additional
information after all registration requirements have been met.
All categories are timed events and therefore, all riders must complete each stage to be in General
Classification.
Race Director reserves the right to combine or split groups. All OBRA racing rules apply. ANSI
approved helmets required. Entrants under 18 must have a parent or guardians sign a release.
