i was really trying to say thanks. i just had a change of heart after reading

dave's e-mail about losing a race cause 1 guy being a foul bastard to the

promoter. i used to complain freely and loudly at the races. i was describing

some of the things that pissed me off at the races but i was vowing to just keep

my mouth shut and race. i wasn't trying to whine, i was really trying to say

thanks. sometimes my dark humor isn't funny. i keep learning that............

my apologies.

Hopefully you haven't been to too many races that had any of those problems,

at least not OBRA events. If you have, please let OBRA (i.e. Candi) know by

sending a message to ob-@teleport.com. That is a much better way to get

the problem fixed than posting a public whine. She will not re-post to the

list (at least not again).

I need to say thank you to every single promoter out there. You all bust

your ass to have races for usand that is way better than watching tv on

sunday. the next time i get my 1 and 3 year olds up at 6:00am to be at a

race on time that starts 45 minutes late, i will keep my mouth shut

instead of complaining. the next time i show up at a race with my family

and there are no toilets for my wife and sons to use, i will keep my

mouth shut. The next time i show up at a race where there is no water or

food on the course and the "corner marshals" offer me orange peels to

eat, i will keep my mouth shut. Next time i go to a race where the

corner marshals throw rocks at us, i will be quite. and next time i get

sent off course, well silence again. Because i would rather bitch about

it on the way home as opposed to being at home bithcin i had no race to

go to.

thank you promoters

All promoters deserve a thanks, they work had to make A RECREATIONAL

ACTIVITY A REALITY. Having put on races and having dealt with people who

complain I no longer put on races, I just attend them and try to find the

promoter and say thanks for the effort.

That is the most unusual thank you I've seen Eric, I'm sure the promoters

try to avoid many of those things from happening. I don't know a promoter

that plans on having late starts, riders go off course, not provide you with

food you should bring with you, or providing the racers and family with

toilets.

In the end it all makes for some great story telling and fun times with

people that enjoy riding bikes, after all that is why we all began to ride

bikes in the first place wasn't it? You know because it is fun!!!
