Another great race here in Bend at the Cascade CX #3 at Hodgert Ranch. A semi snow-covered course saw some great two-wheeled battles being waged. In the junior race, BBC's Taylor Kneuven finally mastered the course and distanced himself from the other competitors. Carson Miller and Wesley Cheney had their own small battle going on with Carson coming out on top in the end. Brian Jorgensen and Reitler Hodgert, at home on his own course which included the "North Shore Teeter-Totter" rounded out the top five. The women's race saw Reno Hilton racer Rachel Hart take the lead from the beginning and never relinquish it, despite clogged shoe problems. Luckily for Rachel she figured this problem out during her warmup laps and opted for the running shoe/clipless pedal combination. In the end Rachel had about a half a lap on her competitors including second place Shannan Whitlach (Lakeside) and third place Sarah Dye (unattached). Todd Dye won the Beginner Mens 29 and under race and Chris Moore scored big in the Men's 30+ Beginner's.

The Advanced Men's race was a closely fought battle as well. Kent Johnston (Lakeside) took the early lead when Compass Commercial rider Mike Martin biffed over the "North Shore Teeter-Totter". Martin quickly regained his composure but took his time in closing the gap eventually passing Johnston and never relinquishing the lead. The battle for third and fourth overall saw Mke Blahut (MTB's R Us) and Brent Hart (Reno Hilton) go back and forth with Hart showing some late race power in passing both Blahut and Johnston. He would eventually finish about a minute behind Martin.

The racers that made it to Hodgert Ranch after a incredibly cold week in Bend were greeted with 50 degree temps and a slowly thawing, technical course. The November 16th race will be back at Hodgert Ranch and will be run on a similar course with a few minor modifications. Registration will open at 10:30 am with the Juniors, Beginners and Women off at 11:15. The Advanced groups will run at 12 noon. A huge thanks to our sponsors again: Rudy Project, Hammer Nutrition, Clif Bar, Pip Printing, Sunnyside Sports, Mike Martin at Strategic Mortgage, Kent Cramer at Cramer's Mortgage Services and GSR.

The December 14th event is being cancelled due to venue/potential snow problems a scheduling conflict with the National CX Championships in the Napa, California area.
