The OUCH Series is a season long event comprised in 2003 of three Hillclimb

Time Trials:

The Bald Peak Time Trial (BPTT) ,

The Larch Mountain Time Trial (LMTT), and

The Oregon District Hillclimb (ODTT)

The defining difference of this series is that while the venues indeed carry

the traditional climbing

categories and focus, they are not designed just for climbers. The inaugural

series of 2003 will

offer not only the traditional Category and Masters divisions for men and

women, but also

introduce a brand new classification called: THE CALIBER CLASS for those who

consider

themselves to be non-traditional climbers.

Non-traditional climbers often find themselves with no possible hope of

competing on climbing

courses and venues against pure climbers, yet still would like to feel they

have a chance to be

competitive as some level. Now they can.

By introducing non-traditional categories, flat land riders have a chance to

be competitive with

people of their - how shall we put it ? ?own caliber? henceforth the name.

By introducing the

CALIBER CLASS, not only do we hope to put the challenge on equal wheels but

we hope to

make it fun as well. In Caliber Divisions everyone riding is heading up a

hill with the same

amount of mass within each group.

Details can be found at the OUCH homepage: www.consystency.net/obra/ouch for

further details on race

times, dates, and courses. Permits pending and input accepted. The desire is

to present a race for all types and

abilities regardless of the course venue.
